Determiners 6 grup altında toplanabilir.
1. Quantifiers
Miktar bildiren yapılardır. How many ve How much sorularına cevap verirler. Sayılan ve sayılamayan ayrımı burada önemlidir.

2. Possessive Adjectives (İyelik, sahiplik sıfatları)
My, your, our, their, his, her, its den oluşan belirleyicilerdir. Benim, senin, onun, onların, sizin anlamı katar.
My aim is to study harder for this exam.
His innovative ideas inspire young people worldwide.
3. Demonstratives
This, that, these, those işaret sıfatları ile yapılan belirleyicilerdir.
this ve these yakını,
that ve those uzağı belirtir.
These books are far more useful than the ones you bought.
4. Articles
a, an ve the yapılarıdır. Belirlenecek ismin başına gelirler.
a ve an tanımlanmamış genel ifadelerde kullanılır.
a book, an orange gibi. Yani hangi book ya da hangi orange olduğu net olarak belli değildir. Genel bir ifade kullanılmıştır.
The ise tanımlanan, özellikle belirtilmek istenen yapılarda kullanılır.
Eğer cümlede a book değilde the book deniyorsa hangi kitap olduğunu konuşan kişiler biliyordur.
5. Predeterminers (Ön Belirleyiciler)
Ön belirleyiciler, determiner ların önüne gelirler.
